The restoration project located in Edgecombe County, NC along three tributaries to the Tar River. The site is comprised of agricultural and forested areas. The Boseman Buffer Mitigation Site will help to reduce future sediment and nutrient loading into the tributaries and downstream Tar River. It will also improve terrestrial habitats along these streams by establishing riparian corridors and allowing the land to undergo natural succession to forested community types. The project will restore vegetative buffers and will remove rotating crops and fertilizer inputs.
As of December 2019, an environmental screening report was submitted. Mitigation Plan has been drafted and approval is pending with NCDMS.
